Well I think I added email functionality to the forum. When someone replies to your message, you have the option of receiving an email notice. While in theory this should work, I didn’t take this feature into account when programming the forum the first time around. So, judging by the time (4 am) and by the fact that the code is sorta jumping through hoops, don’t be surprised if weird things happen. Oh, and when I say “weird things”, of course I mean weird things happening on the clientside. I’d never think of doing anything that might compromise the stability of Jason’s server:)

You haven’t lived until you’ve raced a guy on route 309 at 115mph. Acura vs. Acura. we lost.

Next time there will be no losing when I’m behind the wheel and the vehicle is a Mitsubishi 3000GT. And speaking of the 3000GT, since I successfully graduated, it appears that my 6 year plan now goes into effect. 1-4 months left until the 3000GT … I just have to find one first. Keep your eyes out for me. Must be black. SL preferred.

Funny how the navigation menu keeps getting shorter. The projects moved into the archives and I’m thinking of reworking that page.

Oh, and check out Alien Ant Farm - Movies. I’m hooked on that song (and video). That’s about all the exciting news for now. Merry Christmas.

So I went to see Ocean’s Eleven tonight with Keri.Apparently she saw the movie for the all-male cast and I went for the breaking intocasinos type thing. Ladies, based on the merits of good looking guys, I’m told thatit was a very good movie. From my perspective, it was still good. Although littlefar fetched, (a single device was used to cut power to all of las vegas) it was surprisinglyfunny at times. It was weird to see that many famous actors play pretty much equalroles. All in all, I would reccomend it, but go see Vanilla Sky first :-)

9.6 KbpsSolately I’ve had the worst luck with my modem. Comcast keeps telling us cable willbe ready in a couple weeks, but that’s what they were saying this time last year. For some reason my modem dials up, communicates, and then tells me that the host comptueris not responding. I would assume this problem is on my end, but my brother’s comptuerdoes the same thing. Maybe I’m hitting one bad modem 99% of the time when I try todialup, who knows. Anyway, when I connected tonight, notice that I am connecting at 9.6Kbps. Not 56K or 33.6, not even 14.4, I am connecting at 9.6 K. I didn’t thinkit was even possible. And let me tell you, 9.6 K is painfully slow.

Vanilla Sky was such a weird movie. The commercials give you no idea what the movie is going to be like. I think I was freaked out cause alot of the movie hit close to home. There were striking similarities with many ofthe characters. But even without my psychological baggage, I wasn’t the only one thatwas freaked out, Keri alsofound it somewhat disturbing. And speaking of Keri,I think we’ve set an all time record of the fewest days that we get to hang out. Weseem to have this history of … uh … hanging out and then having to leave. I usuallygo back to school or something and she goes off to some foreign county. First it wasEurope, then Australia, this time it’s Paris. So in honor of this crazy friendshipwhere we never actually get to see each other, the number of days that we can hangout currently stands at <%=(datediff("d",now(),"January 4, 2002") - 8) %>.

wow, theseguys are ingenious. I couldn’t have thought of a better idea to make money sofast. Remember the Secret Santa website I was talking about? They organize peopleacross the internet to be each other’s secret santa. Gifts are purchased via Amazonwishlists. What they fail to mention is that in order to get your Secret Santa’s wishlist, you have to go through a link on their site. (this is where the happy holiday planbecomes potentially devious) While being routed through their site, they tack on theirAmazon affiliate code to get a cut of the profits. With 555 people each buying a $15gift, their 15% cut nets them $1248. Simply amazing considering they’re operatingunder the guise of holiday spirit.
In all fairness, their email did say that they would donate all proceeds to charity. As for me, check my website next year for my own secret santa program. All proceedswill goto me.

adj : extremely harmful; bringing physical or financial ruin; “a catastrophic depression”; “catastrophic illness”; “a ruinous course of action”

So how does one go about fixing a “catastrophic failure?” VB 6 has been working fine all semester, but now it just decides that it feels like generating errors and startup. It also has decided that it’s not going to allow me to load any components. fun right? (and this is even after a reinstall)

Although this most recent Microsoft error doesn’t trump the infamous “Help cannot be found” MsgBox with a Help command button, it ranks pretty high on the scale. Was “catastrophic” a good choice of vocabulary? Who writes these error messages? MSDN tells me that “this error indicates that the requested operation cannot be completed due to a catastrophic media failure or on-disk data structure corruption.” I’m no data structure expert, but my files are fine, thank you.
